Male social hierarchies sort on three variables: attractiveness, athleticism, and physical intimidation.
With the importance of attractiveness and athleticism, we are familiar. However, not enough attention is paid to physical intimidation (i.e. fighting ability). Ideally, you want to look like you can fight AND be able to fight. To accomplish this, you should register for self-defense classes like boxing or Brazilian jiu-jitsu. You will be fitter and be/feel more intimidating. Knowing you can defend yourself, will help you place higher in the social hierarchy. It’ll help you stand your ground, too.
